Spaces and Exchanges This image is an 2008’s cartoon by Chapatte. The title is “Wall between the US and Mexico”. The barrier was built along the Mexican American frontier. This decision was taken by the US government to prevent immigrants from entering the USA illegally. We can see the wall between these 2 countries. On the left, we can see a man walking in the sand and judging from his sombrero, we can deduce that he is Mexican because it’s a stereotype of Mexican people. In cartoons, illustrators decide to include a lot of stereotypes.  The man is very tired by his journey.   The country at the right is the USA. We can see all the skyscrapers in the background on the US side and a Mc Donald’s logo in the middle of the desert. Those two elements are symbols of the USA which is a globalized country.
